Backup and disaster recovery · Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire
INDIGO IT provides backup and disaster recovery services to small businesses across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire from our office in Camberley. We keep a separate, protected copy of your data, test that it restores and agree in advance what gets recovered first. In a disaster recovery situation an engineer can be on site in as little as an hour.

Backup and disaster recovery
A backup you have never restored is a hope, not a plan. Our service covers the three things that matter: a copy that attackers cannot reach, proof that it restores, and a clear order of recovery when something goes wrong.
Protected backups
Ransomware encrypts everything it can reach, and a backup that sits on the same network or in the same account is reachable. We keep your backups separate from the live environment, so an attacker who gets into a laptop or a server cannot also destroy the copy you would recover from.
Coverage is agreed with you: servers, shared files, the devices that hold work nobody else has, and the cloud services your business runs on.
Microsoft 365 backup
Microsoft keeps your email and files available; it does not keep a backup you control. Deleted mailboxes, overwritten documents and items encrypted by an attacker can pass out of Microsoft's retention before anyone notices.
We take a separate copy of your Microsoft 365 data, including email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, on a regular schedule and keep it outside Microsoft. If something is deleted, overwritten or encrypted, we restore it from that copy.
Recovery testing
A backup only counts when it has been restored. We test recovery, record the result and keep the evidence, so you know before an incident that the copy is complete and usable.
We also write down your recovery priorities: which systems come back first, who needs to be working first and what can wait. In an incident that document is the plan, and it has been agreed while everyone was calm.
The helpdesk is available 24/7 and an engineer answers directly.
Over the 12 months to November 2026 our average first response time was 35 minutes and our average resolution time 3.9 hours.
In a disaster recovery situation an engineer can be on site in as little as an hour.
Monitoring helps us spot a failed backup or a developing fault before you report it.

Part of your managed IT
Backup and disaster recovery are not a separate contract. They sit inside INDIGO IT's managed IT service alongside device protection, email security, Microsoft 365 management and the helpdesk, for one fixed monthly cost per user on a 90-day rolling contract.
If you are not sure what your current backups cover, start with our IT audit. It is free of charge, it checks backup coverage, protection from the live environment and evidence of recovery testing, and the report is yours to keep whether or not you ask us to do the work.

Yes. Our IT audit, which is free of charge, checks what your backups cover, whether they are protected from the live environment and whether there is evidence of recovery testing. You receive a written report with a prioritised list of actions. If you ask us to take the service on, recovery testing becomes routine rather than a one-off.
No. Microsoft keeps your data available and applies retention periods, but that is not a backup you control, and an item deleted or encrypted by an attacker can be gone for good once retention expires. We keep a separate copy of your email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams data outside Microsoft and restore from it when needed.

For the businesses we support it is part of one fixed monthly cost per user, not a separate contract. The IT audit that shows you where your backups stand today is free of charge.
